Fire blazes several acres in St. Elizabeth


Firefighters are monitoring a massive bush fire in St. Elizabeth.

The blaze which started Thursday afternoon in the community of Tryall has spread to Lover’s Leap and Ballards Valley destroying several acres of grass and vegetation.

The fire is posing a challenge to fire personnel as it is raging in areas which are inaccessible to fire fighters.

Fire-fighters from the Junction Fire Station along with residents of Tryall and Ballards Valley in St. Elizabeth are now paying close attention to a massive fire which started sometime before four o’clock Thursday afternoon in the area.

The blaze is raging in the same section of Tryall which was ravaged by a massive bush fire in 2005.

One unit from the Junction Fire Station which arrived at the scene managed to extinguish one section of the fire which had threatened several homes in the Tryall area.

The fire is now contained to a section below Lovers Leap which is inaccessible to firefighters residents of Tryall and Ballards Valley say they will be paying close attention to this bush fire which is now being spread by heavy winds in the area.
