It should have been a night made in history; the first time two dancehall queens would be crowned in the Bronx but, instead it was a night full of conspiracy.
Dancers from all over began to arrive very early. By 1am the club, Blue Villa was pack but, had not reached its capacity. Everything was running smoothly. The people waited patiently, the bouncers did their jobs (IDs were checked and people were searched) as far as I could see. The dance floor began to flood with dancer and promoter hoping to get their moneys’ worth and to see who would be crowned Dancehall Queen for 2009 and 2010
However, that never happened. In the midst of every one vibeing to the sounds of platinum Kids and others, the night ended young and unexpectantly when about 10 or more police cars showed up in front of the club, demanding that we must end the party. But why? There were no fights, no noticeable smoking, everyone was pretty much of age and the club was legit. How puzzling?
This is what I think. The night could have ended as a result of several reasons due to arrogance. Maybe, it was put into foreplay by the security running the door. While everyone could have been inside holding a vibes; people were still outside waiting to get in. DEM BAIT UP DA PLACE. At the end of the day why should they (security) care they still get their pay ($150) and get to go home early.
Maybe, the police put up a front. They could not come up with any legit reason or probable cause why they lock off the party. Could the ideology of keeping a black man down come into play?
However, I believe it was far greater than that. Yes, maybe a lot of things came into play as far as the dysfunction of the security and the BADMIND police yet, that couldn’t have drawn so much Babylon to the scene.
I truly believe that it was the doings of someone that was in the midst of our presents. Someone like a fellow dancer, promoter or supporter. I believe that someone full of envy and bad mind informed the police. Somebody was watching Skerrit and the rest of dem pockets. Think about it. Look at how many police were there. You would think somebody got stabbed or shot.
In reality this world is full of back bitters that would do anything to see another fall and dem rise. This will not be the first nor the last time this would occur in the dancehall.
It’s ashamed how it all played out. At the end of the night who really suffered. The supporters; they lost money, they did not to enjoy their night out and Bronx still does not have a dancehall queen.
